In the beginner’s Python for VFX course you will learn the fundamentals of the language and its role within the modern visual effects pipeline.
You will learn basic coding skills in Maya and Nuke together with an introduction to Deadline and Shotgun. The course also covers design principles, etiquette and coding conventions along with logging, testing and debugging. We will also cover the file system, source control and distribution.
Together with learning and practicing the key concepts, you will also develop a real-world project throughout the course.
Your tutor will be an industry professional with over 15 years’ experience. On completion of the course you will have learned the techniques, soft skills and best practices sought after in the industry.
In a studio environment, industry professionals will guide you through a project-based program to understand how to use the Python language. Each morning the tutor will lead you through the day’s subject matter and after lunch you will put into practice what you have learned. As in the real world, work will be published to Shotgun submitted for code review so end-of-day group reviews (dailies) sessions can be held and notes given.
You will have out-of-class access to the facilities so, whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you can put in extra hours when needed.
We’ll also help you plan a fulfilling career path and find potential employers.
Our tutors have extensive industry experience and you’ll also be given a project and get support for your personal project with feedback from a professional currently working in the VFX industry.
