The advanced Python for VFX
course extends the knowledge gained in the beginner’s course with an emphasis on the technologies currently employed within the visual effects industry.
You will learn object-oriented programming together with GUI creation using the ubiquitous Qt library. The course will also cover advanced programming techniques in Maya and Nuke. Together with training in the Deadline, Shotgun, Arnold and Alembic APIs, you will gain a wide range of sought after skills.
As you progress through the course you will also develop a professional tool using Python, based on real-world requirements encountered in the field.
Your tutor will be an industry professional with over 15 years’ experience. On completion of the course you will have learned advanced techniques to pursue a career in pipeline development within the industry.
In a studio environment, industry professionals will guide you through a project-based program to understand how to use the Python language. Each morning the tutor will lead you through the day’s subject matter and after lunch you will put into practice what you have learned. As in the real world, work will be published to Shotgun submitted for code review so end-of-day group reviews (dailies) sessions can be held and notes given.
You will have out-of-class access to the facilities so, whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you can put in extra hours when needed.
We’ll also help you plan a fulfilling career path and find potential employers.
Our tutors have extensive industry experience and you’ll also be given a project and get support for your personal project with feedback from a professional currently working in the VFX industry.
